Foodie Penpals #2

This month was my 2nd time taking part in the Foodie Penpal scheme run by This Is Rock Salt. I really love this scheme, it's great getting a nice surprise in the mail each month instead of the usual bills and junk mail. My penpal this month was in the Netherlands. I forgot to photograph what I sent over though but it did include chocolate sauce, homemade popcorn, some Nak'd bars, 85% dark chocolate and other goodies. The only downside to this scheme is that I want to keep whatever I'm sending for myself!
I received a parcel from the brilliant Rachel at Food Nerd 4 Life. Rachel did such a great job. For starters, she included TWO things from Paul A. Young. I first tried chocolates from there at the Cake & Bake Show back in September and I was in love so I was ecstatic to find some 100% dark chocolate and a brownie. I have never tasted a brownie like it, it was so good I can't even describe it. If you ever get chance to go to one of his stores please try the sea salt caramel, pecan and condensed milk brownie. It's rich and fudgy and all round beautiful, I managed to eat half on one day and half on another...fantastic restraint on my part.
There was a mini bottle of tabasco, this was great because I've never really tried it before but I love spicy food so I'm going to pop some on my eggs in pots at the weekend. The little bag of paprika was brilliant because we use paprika a lot in our kitchen, always adding it to chillis and sprinkled over potatoes. She even picked up the bag in Budapest which makes it even more awesome.
Rachel also included a tin of English peppermint tea from Lahloo in Bristol, which looks like such a lovely shop. I've never been to Bristol but I have a pretty long list of places to visit when I eventually get over there. I only like herbal teas so Rachel picked a great flavour. I tried some last night as we had some little tea filters in the cupboard and it was so nice and refreshing to have in the evening. My final treat was some gold glitter for cake decorating, I love adding a bit of lustre to my bakes where I can so this was a great addition to my cake decorating collection.
I was really happy with my box. I would recommend you get involved in the scheme, even just try it out for one month as it's great fun and I love getting the chance to learn more about fellow bloggers, you don't even have to be a blogger to take part. A big thank you to Rachel at Food Nerd 4 Life for picking out such excellent goodies to perk up my January.
P.S. Check out Rachel's buffalo wings recipe...drool!
